Customising Expanded Tiles in Events Displays
This article covers the Expanded Tile tab in Event Displays, which allows you to customise the layout, styles, and animation for Expanded Tiles in the Flow, Quadrant, Spiral and Stream themes. An Expanded Tile refers to the enlarging and highlighting of a single Inline Tile. Since Event Displays are non-interactive (intended to be shown on large digital displays), specific Inline Tiles can be configured to automatically expand at predefined intervals.
Expanded Tiles are only applicable for the Flow, Quadrant, Spiral and Stream themes – the Billboard and Slide Show themes only show a single Tile at a time. In addition to customising the layout and styling of Expanded Tiles, you can also customise the interval, hold duration and the type of Tiles that are expanded, or turn this feature off completely.
From the left menu, browse to Engage > Event Displays.
Click on the Edit button under the Actions column for Event Display you wish to customise.
On the Edit Display page, click on the Expanded Tile tab in the right sidebar to edit any of the options described below.
Expanded Tiles_– determines which type of Tiles, if any, can be randomly expanded.
Off– none, disable Expanded Tiles.
All– any Tile can be expanded.
Only Tiles with Media – only Tiles with images or videos will be expanded.
Only Image Tiles – only Tiles with images will be expanded.
Only Video Tiles – only Tiles with videos will be expanded.
Interval– specifies the interval between expanding Tiles
Text/Image Duration – specifies how long a text or image Tile remains expanded.
Video Duration – specifies the maximum duration for playing videos in expanded Tiles.
Play Full Video – if enabled, videos in Expanded Tiles are played in full regardless of duration. This option overrides the Video Duration setting.
Mute Videos – if enabled, sound on all videos in Expanded Tiles is muted.
Animation– select the animation style for expanding Tiles.
Layout – select the layout of Expanded Tiles. Choose from:
Media Only – only the image or video of the Tile is shown.
Landscape – the Tile’s image/video is shown on the left, with the text on the right. The Landscape layout automatically defaults to Portrait on mobile devices.
Portrait– the Tile’s image/video is shown at the top, with the text below.
Header Background – the background colour of the Expanded Tile’s header region. This option is only applicable when the Layout is set to Portrait.
Content Background – the background colour of the Expanded Tile’s content region.
Footer Background – the background colour of the Expanded Tile’s footer region. This option is only applicable when the Layout is set to Media Only.
Profile Image Style – lets you set the size and border of Profile Images in Expanded Tiles.
Screen Name Style – lets you set the font size and colour of Screen Names in Expanded Tiles.
Display Name Style – lets you set the font size and colour of Display Names in Expanded Tiles.
Post Time Style – lets you set the font size and colour of Post Times in Expanded Tiles.
Social Icon Style – lets you set the size of social icons in Expanded Tiles.
Text Styles – here you can choose to show/hide the Post Title or Post Body and customise the font size and colours.
Auto Font Size – when enabled, automatically determines the largest possible font size based on the overall length of a Tile’s text.
Max Font Size – the maximum font size used by automatic algorithm above.
MAX. Length – lets you truncate the Tile’s text above the specified number of characters to prevent posts with long text or multiple line breaks from impacting the appearance of your Display.
Click on the bottom right Save Changes button to save your changes when done.
